First came the lockdown, and now, the safest thing to do is to be outdoors. A little over a year after the pandemic began, we have learned to take care of ourselves and take the necessary measures to stay safe and healthy; and one of the recommendations for those who are starting to go out more is to look for ventilated places, preferably outdoors and with enough space to continue maintaining a safe distance.
Fortunately, in the city and its surroundings we have many open spaces and recreational activities that can be done without any hassle, with professionals and measures to spend a day or an entire weekend in a different way. Both in the natural places that surround us and in the city, you can put together a complete itinerary to enjoy the best of both worlds. With this in mind, we want to lend a hand, recommending activities and places to do and visit on your next adventure.

Start your day with breakfast at one of the many restaurants and cafes that have a terrace or patio. Whether you're looking for the typical American breakfast of pancakes or waffles with eggs, your orange juice and coffee; or something more Mexican like some good chilaquiles, we've got you covered. Lavender Coffee, Parish Coffee, Jacques Coffee and more, are some of our outdoor recommendations, here you can see the entire list:

San Miguel Adventure Park

Come on, you've got the energy to climb a hill. Now it's time to connect with nature and breathe fresh air. How does a walk through San Miguel Adventure Park sound to you?
Ecotourism is increasingly present in the region, and there is much to do here. In this park you can go hiking, or if you prefer, see it from above on its 800-meter zipline over a natural canyon; and speaking of heights, you can fly over all of San Miguel on one of its balloon rides right at dawn.

If you want to keep your feet on the ground, you'll love horseback riding, biking, or ATV riding. Activities start at 9 am, so you have the whole day to explore the park and do everything, and the best thing is that there are various packages and even promotions that you can take advantage of. Virgin's Canyon

The archaeological zone of Cañada de La Virgen, which is 34 minutes from the center of San Miguel, is an area of 16 hectares that has several complexes with pyramidal structures and patios where rituals and healings were performed. These constructions are attributed to the Otomi and it is said that several tribes came to visit from various tribes such as the Mayans. It is a place with a lot of energy.
You can arrive by car and leave with a guide who will explain the history of this magical place. On the way back, you can eat delicious Pre-Hispanic food at the Pre-Hispanic Astronomy Museum.

The Best Movie Selection

Compartimento Cinematográfico is a great project from Mezcal-Art, a relatively new project in San Miguel, which seeks to screen selected films in a super pleasant atmosphere, both outdoors and in its recently opened room for 15 people for the moment.
Starting this week, they are returning to their full programming with three films a day from Wednesday to Saturday at 4, 6 and 8pm, and Sundays at 2 and 4pm. The outdoor screenings are on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8:30pm. They are about to inaugurate free Mexican film Wednesdays with LAS FLORES DE LA NOCHE and the presence of the directors.
CC continues to project a variety of new releases in theaters, so check out all the schedules and details so you can enjoy good cinema and support these independent cultural projects.

AT NIGHT
Dinner, Music and Fun

If there is one thing that characterises San Miguel, it is its terraces. The centre is full of them, and it is no wonder, the view you can have and the atmosphere that is created in them is unbeatable, because you can be having lunch or dinner or just having a drink with your friends.
After your adventure walk and the chill moment with the CC movies, it's time for dinner and drinks. These are some of the terraces that we like the most and that are walking from everywhere.
- Kouyin: Every Thursday DJ Martha, a local star, plays and will make you dance without realizing it.
- Fatima 7: Here you eat and drink as it should be.
- Bekeb: music and signature cocktails for the most cosmopolitan.

LET'S REST!
Glamping, the best of both worlds
Let's be honest, camping is for the more adventurous. Sometimes (or always), you look for certain comforts that you can't have if you head out into the woods with a tent and a sleeping bag. Fortunately for us, there are places like This Airbnb that combine outdoor camping with certain luxuries, giving life to 'glamping'.
Continuing with our concept of what to do outdoors, of course we had to recommend something different, and this is it. These perfectly set up and decorated tents have everything you need for a good rest and to wake up admiring nature. They are located just 6 km from San Miguel, so you are close to everything and at the same time disconnected from the noise of the city.
