The Summer Film Festival kicks off with our already beloved Guanajuato Film Festival which will be held in 3 cities, including, obviously, San Miguel de Allende, and so we have the programming with the essential films to bring you the best cinematographic proposal of this great festival.

This year, one of the honorees with the Silver Cross will be the legendary director Arturo Ripstein, with the screening of “El Castillo de la Pureza” and a talk with director Roberto Fiesco and the presentation of his book on Ripstein’s time in San Miguel. Also noteworthy is the screening of “Profundo Carmesí” remastered by the Cineteca and the Mexican Institute of Cinematography. 

On the other hand, the person who will also be honored with the Cross in recognition of his long and transcendental career will be Joaquín Cosío, who continues to contribute to the film industry of our country. 

In the women's section, the winners will be Adriana Paz, who dazzled with her talent at the Cannes Film Festival, the sensitivity of Marina Stavenhagen and the vision of Claudia Ramírez. 

There will be 192 films that can be seen free of charge at the festival, highlighting its international spirit with some contemporary films from China, including “Snow Leopard” and “Brief History of a Family”.

It is worth mentioning that the Fifteenth Anniversary of the Student Film Rally will be celebrated, which promotes cinematographic creation by talented film students who will undoubtedly be the future of the seventh art in our country. 

And finally, we cannot forget to mention a conference that is of particular interest to us, entitled Showcase Virtual Production, in which prominent speakers will give a glimpse into the future of high-level productions supported by the technology that is revolutionizing the way we make films. 

The event will take place in San Miguel from July 22 to 25, where many happenings will take place in the Miguel Malo Auditorium of the Ignacio Ramírez “El Nigromante” Cultural Center, in addition to the already typical Cinemex Luciérnaga and the Santa Ana Theater.
