LOCAL SUPPORTS LOCALS #2 COMPOSTA SMA

Humans have the peculiarity of being the only living beings on the planet that generate “garbage” or waste that cannot be reintegrated into the environment so easily.

What we consider organic is usually the waste that we most dislike to frequently throw away because of its odors or excretions, but what would happen if we told you that it exists in Saint Michael an organization that uses that waste to improve the planet?

SMA compost Founded by Daniela del Villar... it emerged a few years ago with the aim of giving a second life to these organic materials and transforming them into something beneficial for the planet.

This waste is then converted into compost, which is highly beneficial for the environment and for farmland, making it more fertile. With a rigorous 9-month metamorphosis process, this process transforms organic waste into fertilizer for the land.

From an early age and in the Colonia San Antonio, Myriam's love for composting was instilled in her in one of those ecological workshops that are usually given to children; but such was the impression it made on her that she incorporated it into her lifestyle and created a project that helps a large community of women as well as the environment.

This innovative process was created by the community to alleviate the 70 tons of organic waste that arrive at the municipal landfill every day. This putrefaction of the material is what generates methane gas, which is extremely harmful and greatly aggravates global warming.

Although they have had a great learning process, Composta SMA has been growing exponentially and now there are many families from whom they collect their material to be able to continue creating this transmutation of matter. Now they are able to maintain their costs and surely in the future they will be able to receive royalties thanks to the help and awareness of the community to continue saving the planet.

More than 300 San Miguel residents already have their “SMA Compost Kit” which literally consists of a green bucket where you must deposit your organic waste. Then, weekly, a van comes to pick up this bucket to take your trash to be processed and that is all the work you have to do!

In exchange for your waste, you will receive the best trade of your life: quick training and nutrient-rich compost ready to be used on your land.

It's time to get on the green wave!
