Talents never cease to surprise in San Miguel de AllendeWe have reached interview number 17 of this acclaimed section where every month we introduce you to the artists who give life and sound to this beautiful world heritage city.
On this occasion, San Miguel singer-songwriter Angel Luani invited us to his studio, where he opened his heart, shared his creative process and the great satisfaction he has had on this musical journey.
Angel Luani is his stage name and he chose it because he is a big fan of lions and their bravery; “Luani” means “Lion” in Lebanese. His first encounter with music was at the age of 6 when his parents took him to piano and other instrument classes that took him on a broad musical journey.
He had always seen it as a hobby, until the pandemic hit and he found a way to implement music into his work, by selling courses and producing songs.
Currently, Angel is venturing into urban pop and regional Mexican music, sharing his new single “Malas vibras” a song he recorded with his girlfriend and the main theme is to make healthy relationships fashionable.
“People like to talk without seeing the reality of things or they make up rumors when you are in a healthy relationship because they don't like to see you well, they always give off bad vibes and sometimes it does affect you.” he pointed out.
In this way, Ángel seeks to give a twist to the messages that we are used to hearing in famous reggaeton songs, such as infidelity, and to focus on healthy relationships and teamwork, with the goal of ending a war.
Like every artist, Angel has his musical influences and for his compositions, the main inspirations have been greats like Camila and Luis Miguel.
“I was once told that when writing songs, Mexicans focus more on the lyrics, looking for the best way to express emotions and turn reality into beautiful melodies. On the other hand, Colombians are strong in musical production, so I like to take elements from both countries,” he said.
Writing songs is one of the favorite activities of this artist from San Miguel and for this, his studio is the best ally. He has decorated it with lights, guitars and memories that make him draw inspiration to turn some feeling or concern into a song.
