It is now that celebrating the Centennial means a lot to Joaquín Sierra because both he and his great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather were active disseminators of this multi-sensory tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation until it reached the hands of Joaquín who will not let the Centennial go unnoticed.

And both he and different communities such as those of Valle del Maíz and La Estación will be on the front line and staying up all night with the burning of fireworks as well as the appearance of dazzling stars and impressive mojigangas.

Sierra tells us that it is a tradition so loved by everyone because in addition to celebrating San Miguel Arcángel, it is responsible for delighting the senses: sight with the fireworks and star show, touch when feeling the textures of the materials of the mojigangas, hearing when dancing to the cheerful local music, smell with the hypnotic smell of gunpowder and taste with the Mexican delicacies that feed everyone year after year.

For Joaquín, in addition to continuing and protecting his family tradition, the significance of La Alborada and a factor that differentiates La Alborada from the rest is that here everyone can participate in the celebration and not be mere spectators as usually happens in other events of this nature.

Here, anyone who is fit can help by carrying a star or a giant fireworks display, and if their nerves are strong, they can embark on a dance with the fireworks, “escaping” from the fire and dancing to the rhythm of the fireworks.

An extensive investigation and interesting narrative about the origins of La Alborada will soon be read in a book that Joaquin is being carried out and is already in the editorial process to be released in physical form so that we can all learn about its evolution and of which we will soon give details…

And this is how 100 years have passed, thanks to the love of the people and the sensory delight that is given in this biblical representation that, if all goes well and the new generations contribute new blood, will continue for another century.
