LOCAL CONNECT # 18 Breaking the Pole Stigma with Champion BERE LUGO

Gone are the stereotypical thoughts that associated pole dancing as part of a striptease, as it has become a fun and energetic sport that can also function as a performance.

Founder of the pole studio “Strike a Pose” Bere Lugo She knows this firsthand, as the former gymnast came to the sport seeking to emulate the same adrenaline she had in her gymnastics days, and although at first she didn't like it, it was when she changed teachers that it became her passion in life.

And both the flexibility and strength of his previous discipline served him greatly to stand out in this new activity, which led him to teaching in Guadalajara and later in Saint Michael where he resides right here.

Although Bere initially wanted to continue working in established studios, it was when she was rejected for a job at one here that she decided to start her own business, taking the name of Madonna's famous song, "Vogue," because she wanted to emphasize the elegant side of such a beautiful sport.

From there, she wanted to break stereotypes by elevating this to an art form, as well as breaking the myth that only women practiced it, accepting people of both genders in her studio.

This is why her students adore her because from the beginning she dedicates her attention to observing their initiating abilities such as flexibility, strength, and more importantly, coordination, and based on that, she strengthens their skills.

For Bere, contrary to what many believe, starting out in pole is quite easy, but it is at the professional level where things start to get complicated due to the high-level competition from all over the world, although this has not prevented her from obtaining two world titles and taking Mexico to the top.

These enormous achievements took her approximately 4 years of extreme discipline as well as diet and complementary calisthenics and dance classes to be able to assimilate everything in her performance, which is usually characterized by elongations and displays of flexibility of her long limbs.

Strike a Pose It is located at Progreso #4, Guanajuato, and is pleased to have taken students to national competitions, as well as to be waiting for the next person who wants to learn and have fun with this very pleasant art/sport.
