Live music in San Miguel de Allende

We're all fed up with those places with giant screens that play the same 80s songs on repeat that we know backwards and forwards. San Miguel is a city that celebrates all year round and we want to dance a danzón with delicious live music.

Our users never tire of asking us about places we recommend to go and feel like the legendary John Travolta and Olivia Newton John, may he rest in peace on the heavenly dance floor, so here is our list to get your legs moving to some good salsa.

We start our list with the eclectic and exciting Tupinamba, a good Spanish restaurant with space for the flamenco tablao on Fridays and Saturdays; on Thursdays ladies night with cheaper drinks for the beautiful ladies, Tuesdays tribute to the great Joaquín Sabina and Sundays another tribute to Gipsy Kings. The only thing you need to remember is that every day they start at 9 pm and end at 11 pm except for the weekends when the live music stops at midnight. Olé!

If you are a fan of the most beautiful genre born in New Orleans, you will not want to miss attending La Hija del Manantial where you can delight your ears every Wednesday with a jazz trio and on Tuesdays with its live electro jazz variation as well as Thursdays and Saturdays with Latin guitars and Friday nights reserved for flamenco moon at 8 pm sharp.

The legendary Mama Mía that emerged in the 70's and functions as an Italian restaurant while also featuring the best live musicians in the city. Every Wednesday the Parisian swing from 9-11 pm comes back to life to offer you a night with too much flow making a drastic change on the weekends starting on Fridays with Garambullos from 8-10 pm and ending with Cuban music from 10-12 pm. On Saturdays the repertoire of the previous day is repeated but it starts earlier with Severo Barrera from 2-4 pm being relieved by Garambullos as soon as they finish and on Sundays, instead of closing the night with Cuban music, they close with a flourish with Hopalong Jazz from 9-11pm.

Finally, another restaurant with a beautiful terrace and its own dance lounge is Centanni and its Piano Bar, whose melodic keyboard is played by the agile interpretive hands of Johnny Favourite and Alex Gutiérrez on Wednesdays at 7 pm. On Thursdays from 8 pm, ladies, young ladies and ladies will enjoy the night dedicated to them with live salsa or band music.

For our more bohemian friends, Fridays at 9pm at Centanni are about getting out of the house and wearing those comfortable moccasins on a bohemian night, starting the evening and once warmed up, some delicious Rock-Pop beats to finish with Groovy Dancing and the most killer disco dance steps there are; something like Patrick Miller in San Miguel.

On Saturdays the predominant mood is that of a fun bohemian night at 9pm with La Flaka and Alex Gutiérrez and to continue the danzón de arrabal things get really good with retro pop rock dancing at 11pm with Grava Suelta.

No matter how you like to shake your temple, not to say dust off your skeleton, this little note will make you want to go out and explore the San Miguelense Dance Fever.
