The Levain & Co family is celebrating as a new member has joined its impressive ranks (Panio, Cumpanio and Hotel Boutique Casa de los Olivos), located in the heart of the Historic Center of San Miguel de Allende.
This is the restaurant Hortus which comes like a breath of fresh air located right in front of the iconic garden and La Parroquia. Its food recalls the delights found in the Mediterranean as well as the characteristic Franco-Italian seal that runs through the veins of Levain & Co origins that the kindness of the group's General Manager, Sandra Vazquez he quickly clarified.

Using wheat as a central element in different culinary techniques as well as implementing the flavors of maritime life will be one of the distinctive features of “Hortus” which gets its name from the Latin meaning garden.
Another of Hortus's hallmarks lies in its fascinating architecture, led by the legendary vision of architect Alberto Laposse, whose talents are not limited to a single branch and extend across the disciplines of design, baking, hospitality and the restaurant business, distilling in each of these arts a unique vision worthy of being remembered.

Hortus is full of sinuous curves and subtle textiles with soft organic shapes, incorporating inspiration from the mighty trees that provide their benign shade on hot days to everyone in San Miguel. It is a form of botanical transfer where we sought to transfer a bit of the natural beauty of the trees and the Central Plaza using natural materials such as a large presence of wood.
To add to this charming vision, we had the collaboration of great friends who contributed with their talent unique elements that together make Hortus worthy of great praise.

La Local Taller and Barro Stories joined forces with their extraordinary table accessories, while Namuh did the same by creating all the carpentry and furniture for the place, which together make all the difference in creating a pleasant environment conducive to leisure and creation.
Without a doubt, the great warmth of Levain & Co was able to transfer to this new venture, to which the Local Guide team predicts the greatest success and is grateful for contributing significantly to making San Miguel de Allende a living city, and not for nothing, it is considered the Best Small City in the World.
