This popular play tool in childhood plays a key role in children's learning about real life. From developing their imagination with fun puppets to doing projective tests with a puppet show, toys are still one of the most effective ways to communicate knowledge that has been around since ancient times.
To continue with the tradition of this, it is week after week (specifically on Saturdays) that the The Corner Museum She organizes Mexican Popular Toy Workshops for children and adults and is the founder of Local Guide, Myrna Camacho, who lived the experience firsthand and tells us about this wonderful event.
Upon arrival, she was invited to the terrace where the workshop takes place with a beautiful view. There, there are several different options for you to choose the toy you want to make: Catrinas, a wooden ladder with a monkey, cardboard dolls, wooden cars, tin figures and a cardboard horse, which was the one our founder chose.
After selecting the piece (cost approx. $100-$400) the participants sit at long tables with all the necessary material to assemble the toy. The space becomes very pleasant and it is very easy to create new friendships because people feel relaxed and immersed in this beautiful activity.
At another table, a family arrived with their children and each one was very happy concentrating on their monkeys, which shows that this is an experience suitable for the whole family. The satisfaction of creating something with your own hands becomes unmatched because it has an acquired value by having come from you.
