There is something about San Miguel de Allende that attracts creative spirits and enhances their ability to create memorable ideas, pieces and objects that transcend geographical borders. It is its beautiful and peaceful streets, its revitalizing sunrises, its mesmerizing sunsets, and the good energy of those who have always lived here and also of those who have arrived by chance.
This city has been a hotbed of talent since its founding, but in more recent times and thanks to the connectivity possibilities offered by technology, this talent has managed to be in the world's spotlight more easily, proudly bringing its proposal to all corners of the planet.
Today we want to tell you about three international brands whose origins date back to here, and how they have evolved to become leaders in their categories.
TEQUILA HOUSE OF DRAGONS:
The spirit that is on everyone's lips
We start with one of “the 21 best tequilas to buy now,” according to Robb Report. Made, of course, in Tequila, Jalisco, but based in San Miguel de Allende, this brand that began as a small and select production has become a must-try acclaimed by specialized media that has delighted the American market. It was founded in 2009 by Bertha González Nieves –the first woman to be certified as “Tequila Master” by the Mexican Academy of Tequila Tasters– and businessman Robert W. Pittman.
Its name is inspired by the legendary Dragons of San Miguel de Allende, a historical group that helped give rise to Mexico's independence movement. In fact, the Dragons House located in Recess 16, was the headquarters of these characters, and it is a space that you can visit prior reservation to learn and try more about tequila. Personalities such as Michelle Obama, Oprah and even Madonna have visited this house to discover why Casa Dragones is one of the most valued tequila brands today.
Or if you prefer, you can visit the exclusive Tasting Room located in the Dôce 18 Concept House. A wonderfully designed and decorated spot where you can try Casa Dragones varieties and unique cocktails made with it. This experience is for only 6 people, so we also recommend book in advance.

SAN MIGUEL RECREATION:
Fashion for the contemporary person
Inspired by the versatility and timelessness of the iconic Latin American sarape lines, this designer brand has woven its history from simplicity, elegance and modernity; reinterpreting tradition and reimagining luxury.
It is known that long before San Miguel de Allende was the cultural center and tourist destination that it is today, it was already known for the artisanal work of fine textiles that were made mainly for the upper and ecclesiastical classes. In 2010, Lisa and Michael Coleman moved to San Miguel and found a fascination for recreating these textile pieces from a contemporary design vision and aesthetic.
This is how, a year and a half after the idea, they presented their first collection in what is now the brand's favorite boutique. Recreo was born, a communion between the textile heritage of Latin America and today's haute couture. Over time, the brand has explored other types of garments and designs such as dresses, jackets, blouses, skirts and more, expanding its catalog to offer luxurious pieces for the modern and casual person who does not want to lose the touch of distinction.

ELISHEVA & CONSTANCE:
Jewelry that shines on its own
Jewels are objects that have accompanied human civilization for millennia. They are so much a part of us that it is strange not to see someone wearing earrings or a necklace or bracelet. This jewelry brand founded in 2014 by Bárbara López Vie has stood out for presenting an exciting contemporary twist to the design of everyday pieces, to turn them into something extraordinary.
Since Barbara was a child, she was drawn to the world of art, fashion and design. After graduating as an Architect, she moved to San Miguel de Allende, where in 2010 she began to conceive the concept of the brand based on her passion and love for jewelry.
The intention of each E&C collection is to convey the passion for design, creating handmade pieces with a unique personality. Bárbara uses different combinations of stones, metals and materials to dress the sophisticated person who wants to be trendy and express their authenticity with a cosmopolitan and bohemian style, like the one that is breathed in San Miguel.
With different points of sale in Mexico and internationally, E&C currently has its line of classics and glam, for those looking for the perfect accessory to wear every day or for those special evenings with family or friends.
