Al Fresco Tables in San Miguel

Al fresco is a term that comes from the Italian word for “outdoors.” Eating in a restaurant “al fresco” simply means doing so outside, where it’s always more refreshing to observe other people or simply to contemplate nature to escape the enclosed spaces and the overwhelming summer heat.

These are some of our recommendations, of which it is worth highlighting that all are Pet Friendly:

We start with Bennu which is located on Calle de Jesús #20 and has quickly become a diner favorite thanks to its exquisite sourdough pizzas with fresh vegetables. We particularly love the one with heirloom tomatoes and smoked provolone, as well as its pizza of the day format.

Being able to sit under the arches of Bennu and enjoy a pizza in its super-relaxed atmosphere has positioned it as the place you have to go to for a good time.

We continue with Canita A place that not only offers snacks like salmon and octopus tiraditos, but also burrata with tuna. It's also distinguished by its excellent mixology, with four lines of craft beers, like our beloved Cuatro Palos on tap, and our favorite, La Súper Lupe from Cervecería Hércules in Querétaro. You can visit our dear friend Daniel Gamboas and remind him you're here with Local Guide.

And finally, you can't miss refreshing yourself with their homemade ice creams, accompanied by excellent musical curation, in a location right in the heart of downtown San Miguel.

We cannot continue writing this note without mentioning one of our eternal favorites, Cumpanio And the reason the restaurant keeps appearing on our lists is due to its use of culinary techniques from Europe of yesteryear thanks to its Franco-Italian roots.

With more than 120 dishes to choose from and homemade pastas, visiting Cumpanio means leaving with your palate and appetite completely satisfied, as well as a happy heart, as they have live music on Saturdays to liven up the experience.

We finish this great and precise list with the flirtatious Jacques It's the coziest little cafe you'll find in the whole town, and its intimate, personalized feel is evident from the first cup of coffee.

Specializing in all-day brunch from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., a visit to Jacques is a treat for your heart and taste buds, and we'll never tire of recommending dishes like the sumptuous French Toast.
