SEAFOOD FOR THE HEAT! Seafood restaurants and where to find them in SMA

With the arrival of spring and the sun shining brightly in San Miguel de Allende, it is inevitable to think of seafood and a michelada that makes us feel like we are at the seaside. A green aguachile, a shrimp cocktail, some ceviche tostaditas… Surely your mouth is watering just by reading this, unless you are allergic or you just don't like the taste, there is no one who can resist a substantial seafood dish, and although geographically we are not so privileged as to have it fresh from the sea, we do have good restaurants that offer fresh seafood in its different styles and presentations.

Want to know where to satisfy your seafood craving? Look no further, we've created a list of the Local team's favourites so you can try them out and discover your new seafood spot.

IN THE VERY CENTER

If you are strolling through the city centre and suddenly a craving hits you, these options are ideal because of their good location and because each one has a very special atmosphere that will help you connect the table with a couple of drinks.

The Fat Mermaid

Umarán 8, int. 3, Center.

We really like this unmistakable place for its green patio where you can spend hours between a tostada and a michelada. Try the tostadas and don't forget to try each of their sauces, but be careful!

Pescau

Jesus 21, Center.

This spot has a great setting and a diverse menu that satisfies any seafood craving. From seafood soup to quesadillas (golden tacos) and complete seafood platters to share with the rest of the table.

Cevicheria La Muy Muy

Ten of Sollano and Dávalos 2, Center.

A small but cozy place for those looking for both a full meal and a snack with a couple of beers. As the name suggests, their specialty is ceviche, and they have different preparations from Mexico and Latin America.

Baja Fish Taquito

Mesones 11-B, Center.

Baja-style seafood is one of the most popular, especially for its simplicity that does not detract from the flavor at all, on the contrary. Here, the basic tacos are fish, shrimp and marlin, and yes, they are very consistent in terms of the Baja seasoning that we all love.

The Seafood Port

San Pedro 14, Center.

This hidden gem in the center is great if you don't want to be in the middle of all the tourists. A small, family-run restaurant where you can find cocktails, ceviches, and micheladas with flavors like tamarind.

NOT SO IN THE CENTER

Mario's Seafood

Exit to Celaya 81

A place with a lot of style and personality on the way out to Celaya. This is a Mazatlan-style restaurant, which is very peculiar compared to the seafood that is usually eaten on other coasts of Mexico. The seafood soup and the shrimp wrapped in bacon are a must!

Embarkdero

Exit to Celaya 51

Opposite La Comer is this restaurant with a decoration that transports you to the beach. Here you can find a varied menu with all kinds of preparations, and what we like is that it is a good place to have breakfast / lunch at your leisure. We recommend youWe recommend the fish strips.

Mr. Shrimp

Dolores Bypass 117

Fish tacos, Dorado, ceviche and grilled tuna that are not to be missed. In this very cute restaurant with a beach atmosphere you can find just what you need to revive after a night of partying.

Mar 13 (formerly Pier 13)

Stirling Dickinson 15

Grilled octopus, aguachile, and even wings for those who don't love seafood can be ordered here. This is a restaurant with a very relaxed atmosphere so you can feel comfortable ordering and having a good time.

The Sons of Toast

Station Square 5

Here tacos and tostadas are the stars, so it's perfect to go for a bite and order one of each thing to try and fill your belly. With some cold beers, you'll be more than satisfied.
