As many artists have shared with us, the pandemic was a crucial point in making a radical change in their lives. In this case, Sharon's decision was to move to San Miguel on the recommendation of her partner's family, where she found great opportunities to develop in music, as a member of various projects and as a singing teacher.

Her first approach to music was thanks to her mother, who was always amazed by the piano, so from a very young age, Sharon attended music classes, taking this path seriously until she was 15 years old.

On this musical path, Sharon has experimented in most genres such as classical, folk, jazz, electronic music and more.

“I was always interested in exploring the world of jazz and so I looked for a place that would give me the opportunity to work in this style. That’s why I traveled to Veracruz, and later this musical genre brought me to San Miguel.”

Like every artist who has their musical influences, Sharon has been inspired by prominent R&B and Jazz artists such as Tommy Flanagan and Barry Harris.

Currently, Sharon is fully engaged in music, being a member of various projects that bring life and make everyone dance in restaurants, bars and hotels. One of them is “4 Session Music Band” where she is the pianist and singer alongside Gaby Espinosa, performing electro pop and soul songs.

Another project is “Sound Machine Art” where together with several American artists they perform contemporary jazz. One of the newest projects is “Grassy groove” in which they also perform jazz but with classical themes and set the scene in places in the city of Querétaro.

Along with these performances, Sharon is venturing into music composition, working with Gaby Espinosa with the idea of releasing an album with original songs.

“Through my music I seek to transmit freedom and love”

If you ever want to hear the music Sharon Itoi performs through her many musical projects, you can find her every Sunday at “Our Habitas” during brunch hours (11:00 am – 1:00 pm), on Thursdays at Tupinamba and on other days at various wonderful places in San Miguel. Follow this great pianist on her social media to find out about all her projects and upcoming performances.

We wholeheartedly thank Sharon for being part of this series of posts that aim to showcase the talent found in San Miguel de Allende, and thank you very much for reading us. Until next time!
