We open this section of tales from beyond the grave with the Cave of Moctezuma, or as many call it, the Devil's Cave, hidden in the gloomy Picachos. It is said that on May 3, the day when "gold burns", three compadres, driven by ambition and mystery, decided to venture out in search of the treasure that, according to rumors, lay in the depths of the cave.
As they crossed the threshold of the cave, a suffocating darkness enveloped them, and they were soon greeted by a suffocating stench of sulfur, as if the earth itself were breathing evil. At the bottom, under the dim light of their torches, an impressive image appeared before them: a statue of the Virgin of Guadalupe, sculpted in solid gold, watching them with a glow that seemed alive.
As they moved forward, the sound of their footsteps echoed like whispers, and before them arose an even more disturbing sight: a river of crystal-clear water and, on the other side, a dazzling treasure. But before they could even get close, a mysterious man emerged from the shadows. His deep, somber voice echoed through the cave, warning them that they could only take the treasure if they did his bidding. One of them was to carry a sack full of gold and precious stones, the other a beautiful woman, while the third was to stay in the cave. The only warning: not to look back as they took different paths until they reached the cross of El Jardín.
With their hearts pounding in terror, the three men accepted the challenge. But when the air began to smell of danger and their shadows seemed to move on their own, one of them could not bear it. At the last moment, just before reaching their destination, fear overcame him. He turned his head to contemplate his journey… and in that instant the gold in the sack turned to coal, and the beautiful woman twisted and transformed into a snake that hissed with evil.
Panicked, the two friends ran back to the cave in search of their companion, who had been left behind. But when they arrived, the entrance had disappeared as if it had never existed. The cave, and their friend, had vanished forever into the darkness. Since then, no one has seen either the treasure… or the unfortunate man who dared to challenge the mystery of the Devil's Cave.

The musicians of Chinese Stones It goes like this: Some pretty good musicians had finished playing at 2 am at a town party and when they were heading home a mysterious cart interrupted them and a man whose face they couldn't see asked them to go play at another party at that very minute.
At first the musicians did not want to, but as the stranger offered them a large sum of money, they agreed. So they climbed into the cart and a deep sleep overcame them, falling into the arms of Morpheus. When they woke up, they had already arrived at the party and they began to play in front of a very picturesque audience, since it turned out to be a party from hell, a coven, and the dancers and guests were skeletons as well as the most terrifying monsters.
The musicians played fearfully until dawn, and when the party was over, they were brought back by the driver, who turned out to be the devil, but who kept his word by giving them a bag of gold, thus showing that even the devil has a word and that the dead also deserve to have fun.

On the old highway of San Miguel and Celaya there is the old Friar's Bridge which you will be able to glimpse at some point on your right side. It was the year 1575 when a friar crossed that same bridge to take some religious figures to nearby communities when he died in the attempt.
It turns out that he was ambushed by Chichimecas and killed, so his spirit never knew peace and has a terrible thirst for blood, causing terrible car accidents, thus calling for mortal victims to accompany the Friar in his eternal descent. The most chilling thing about the matter, besides the constant appearances of the Friar, is that when you go down the bridge you can see a community that performs witchcraft and black magic.
Although some of these legends may resemble mythological stories such as that of Orpheus and Eurydice or the Headless Horseman, we cannot deny that they give us goosebumps!
