What is a gallery? A meeting point, a breeding ground, a refuge; it depends on the vehicle that takes us there, and there, it becomes the emotions it awakens in us. This and more is the Manuk Gallery, an open space for lovers of the visual arts and for those who want to get started in them; creating, collecting or simply admiring the works that are on display.
Since its opening in 2016, within Fábrica La Aurora, we have seen dozens of artists, emerging or established, parade through their diverse and exciting styles. Every three months, a new name appears on the marquee, inviting locals and visitors to marvel at their creations, mainly abstract. Among others, the participation of Ariadna Pineda and her surrealism with pigments; Pedro Castro and his exciting interpretation of spirituality; or Tania Quezada and her dreamlike landscapes.
Considering the delicate global context in which we find ourselves, the gallery has prepared a virtual version of one of its most visited exhibitions of last year, “Substancia Salvaje”, an online tour that seeks to bring the highlights of its catalogue to all corners of the world. This exhibition presents the work of 8 Mexican artists, who through different techniques, tell us about their feelings and experiences, in atmospheres that please even the most eccentric imagination. It is totally worth dedicating a good amount of time and attention to this exhibition, especially to learn more about the artists and appreciate the works in detail.
Once you’ve finished, check out the classes and tours you can take as part of the gallery’s experiences. For example, they have a concept called “Wine & Paint” where yes, just like you imagine, you can paint while enjoying a featured wine; these classes are taught by Estefania Mongrell and more artists. Additionally, you can learn to paint with acrylic and mixed media in the Expressive Art workshop for both children and adults, which includes materials so you don’t have to worry about it.
Galería Manuk is a space conceived by Lourdes Rivera, a visual artist originally from Mexico City, with a long career whose style has mutated towards the exploration of colors inspired by nature, and its textures, portraying everyday scenes and landscapes wrapped in mysticism. In complex times, art is a way that helps us express what we feel, and Galería Manuk shows us this with all its experiences. It's time to believe and create!
