Chronicles and Legends 02. The Giant of San Miguel

Thanks to Brenda Araiza

Continuing with the saga narrated so eloquently by Brenda Araiza, now it is time to talk about one that causes particular fascination due to its titanic proportions.

It turns out that in the bowels of Estancia de Canal, which is a very small community located on the outskirts of Saint Michael and where the locals tell the most interesting of stories…

Within this region is an area of caves with well-preserved cave paintings. The entrance to one of these caves is surprisingly guarded by a huge door about 3-4 meters wide, on which is carved the letters "Not that the little one may easily enter through this door."

leyendas san miguel gigante

What could such a mysterious phrase mean?

And such a question seems to be clarified by sightings of epic proportions that locals swear they have witnessed, because whoever enters this door is no small feat...

Despite the efforts of the locals to enter through this door, there is no human power that can move it and when they were trying, it is in the distance, descending the mountain that their eyes fell upon a fearsome giant of about 4 meters who was heading towards the door and despite their attempts to follow him, the door simply disappeared!

And so the prophetic words were fulfilled: the children were unable to enter the giant's gate. And that's not all, because during the rainy season, a waterfall swells, also providing access to the mountains. From there, they have claimed to have seen the giant emerge from his shelter into the outside world, most likely feeding in the wild.

And although many try to follow him, he quickly loses track of them with his very long strides, although the most prudent men are content to watch him from a distance and safeguard their lives.

It remains to be seen what lies within the giant's lair. Perhaps it is an immense treasure, or perhaps one finds a kind of temple, or perhaps a cemetery with the victims of the enormous being.

Do you dare to enter?
