COLORING DEATH

What other people can boast of rubbing shoulders with death itself and being its friend more than the Mexican people?

In honor of this the Coloring Death Festival which celebrates the union between mysticism and the tradition of the Day of the Dead from October 26 to November 2.

MUERTE FESTIVAL san miguel

To celebrate Death in Life, a location at the height is necessary and nothing like the emblematic Hotel Hacienda el Santuario from San Miguel de Allende to serve as a gateway for this connection with Mictlan.

Each of its beautifully decorated corridors and courtyards houses an exhibition of works from all over the country, from textiles to ceramics and sculpture. This is where the curatorship comes into play to give a sense of immense pride in Mexican culture.

One of the main guest stars of the festival is the giver of life to its mojigangas, the master Hermes Arroyo who never ceases to surprise us with his gigantic creations of titanic proportions.

Another of the festival’s explorations is to delve into Mexican gastronomy through our food. With guests such as The Culinary Explorer embodied by Kirsten West who will share her knowledge as a chef in her workshop “Learn How to Make Tamales”.

Among the repertoire of its other unmissable activities are Cempasúchil Workshops, Ancestral Drinks, medicinal music, Amor Mata mixology, a Takeover of the state of Hidalgo at its Fiesta de las Ánimas del Mezquital, a 9-course gala dinner, a “From the Earth to the Cup” chocolate tasting, and many more surprises.

Among them, the performance of Moyeni stands out, nominated for 4 Grammys, who will bring her talent to the Festival and make the living and the dead dance. Now, as for the legacy part, the Historian Graciela Cruz will delight the public with her narrative of veneration of the ancestors.

It should be noted that in addition to being a modern but at the same time traditional and fun way to celebrate these dates, the funds raised will be donated to charity for the foundation “Saving Living Beings with Love” where canine friends will be eternally grateful.

So now you know, community of San Miguel, come and toast with Flaca with some good mezcals and get lost in the corridor of life and death. Check out the full program!
