GOODBYE WINTER! Say goodbye to the cold in these hotels with hot springs

We all need a moment of escape and relaxation all the time, and what better way to do so than by taking advantage of the wonders that nature has to offer us?

Hot springs are extremely beneficial for our health, thanks to their mineral properties that, in addition to making us feel good, are also very good for our skin. These waters usually spring from the underground layers of the earth above 5 degrees Celsius and, in fact, it was from these natural sources that the first public spas were created, dating back to 2000 BC.

What are some of its benefits? Well, first of all, they work as relaxants and sedatives. If being in the water already provides tranquility, with the heat of the hot springs our joints and muscles relax, so they are perfect for those who feel contracted or are undergoing some physical rehabilitation. There is also talk of benefits in mild respiratory illnesses and even for good digestion. As for the skin, they help improve certain illnesses such as dermatitis and some injuries and wounds; they also cleanse the skin and open the pores to eliminate impurities; our tip here is that when you visit one, take your favorite natural exfoliant with you so that when you get out of the water you do your skin care routine and take advantage of all its benefits.

Now, where can you find hot springs in San Miguel de Allende? There are a couple of places that, in addition to having these spaces, are also very cute. Here are our recommendations:

Hotel Nirvana

Old Railway Track 21, Cortijo.

Just 15 minutes from the city center is this hotel inside the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, a place surrounded by nature that immediately disconnects you from stress and connects you with your inner self. Whether you stay here or not, you can book a day pass or one of its spa services, which has various treatments such as chiromassage, Ayurveda, and facials; including of course its chlorine- and chemical-free hot spring pool that looks incredible. www.hotelnirvana.mx

Hidden Place Hotel

San Miguel – Dolores Hidalgo Highway.

Another of the spots that we love to visit and that is also located in the Sanctuary of Atotonilco is this conceptual park that is focused on helping you balance body, mind and spirit with its various services and treatments. Its Spa Renacimiento has the most appropriate name, because once you go through it you come out renewed. Here they have one of the most famous hot spring pools on Instagram, thanks to its 'caves' and tunnels that transport you to a place of mental peace. www.escondidoplace.com

Hacienda Taboada Hotel

Highway to Dolores, Rancho Taboada.

Just 10 minutes from downtown, this country estate has different water spaces such as wading pools, a semi-Olympic pool, and a relaxation pool. The beauty and comfort of its facilities combined with relaxation in its hot springs make it a perfect place to inspire you and spend an entire weekend (or even longer) secluded but close to everything. www.taboada.com.mx

Atotonilco the Old

Atotonilco Sanctuary Highway.

This beautiful colonial and rustic hotel has several spaces dedicated to rest and relaxation that are also great for taking a good photo session –since you're there. Also located in the Sanctuary of Atotonilco area, this property has two outdoor pools and one indoor pool with hot springs so you can find your inner peace in a private and super chill atmosphere.
