A Pilates Route through San Miguel

A Pilates Route through San Miguel

Flexibility, toning, and discipline are just some of the benefits that come with practicing Pilates. This beloved form of exercise has made its way into every corner of San Miguel, bringing with it a selection of studios whose unique concepts are sure to inspire.

We’re sharing the Pilates route explored by Dani and Vale from the Local Guide creative team, who visited studios across San Miguel so you can find the one that best suits your preferences and your way of moving.

We begin with Reformer Lab, located in the San Antonio neighborhood and nestled within a luxury hotel at Pila Seca 9. With just three spacious reformer beds, the studio offers an intimate and exclusive atmosphere.

Here, it’s all about embracing the slow moments. Their main focus is on offering more personalized classes than those found at conventional studios, with an emphasis on injury prevention and an overall wellness-oriented experience.

Rather than encouraging endless repetitions, the instructors focus on refining technique and allowing each movement to flow as it was originally intended.

Membership also includes complimentary access to the hotel’s pool and sauna, along with discounts at the spa.

One of their signature classes is “Restorative Flow,” centered around slow movements, stretching, and releasing physical tension. We especially recommend this studio to anyone who loves the idea of a truly slow morning.

At 21 Pilates, you’ll find five reformer beds and a slightly more intense approach to exercise, designed to challenge areas of the body that don’t always get the attention—or the calorie burn—they deserve.

In addition to the reformer beds, Coach Pam has introduced a new discipline to the studio: Pilates Mat, offering a different way to move, strengthen, and reconnect with the body.

Located at Salida a Celaya 26 in La Lejona, the studio offers a variety of packages, including a $2,100 option for unlimited Pilates, bringing the cost down to just $75 per class if you attend every day.

There’s also a smoothie bar outside, while the overall atmosphere of the space proved wonderfully peaceful for the girls on our team. It was easy for them to connect with fellow attendees and build a sense of community in a wonderfully laid-back environment.

Dedicated exclusively to Mat Pilates, Moov Studio is a space that plays creatively with lighting, favoring monochromatic tones during its classes to create visually striking effects that are as pleasing to the eye as they are perfect for social media.

For Coach Ali, challenging her students in dynamic ways is part of the fun, which is why she is constantly creating energetic workouts designed to keep everyone engaged and moving.

Similarly, Coach Mons likes to play with rhythm, letting the music’s beat and flow guide her classes while incorporating her favorite props: the mini ball and resistance bands.

This aesthetically driven studio is always in motion, and one of the things our team enjoyed most was the variety of experiences on offer. Among them is “Pilates Candlelight,” where guests can enjoy their practice surrounded by the warm glow of candlelight.

Next up is SMA Pilates, a studio specializing in classical Pilates and distinguished by its unique circuit, where every piece of equipment in the studio—including the Cadillac and Reformer—is incorporated into a single class, creating a truly comprehensive practice.

For those unfamiliar with the difference between these two apparatuses, the Reformer is a moving carriage equipped with springs, designed to build strength, endurance, and flexibility. The Cadillac, on the other hand, is a stationary table whose exercises place greater emphasis on body awareness while gradually challenging the user’s relationship with gravity.

Studio founder Kaley firmly believes in adapting each class to the individual body and needs of every client rather than following a generic lesson that overlooks personal differences. This philosophy has helped make SMA Pilates one of the most respected studios in San Miguel.

With a balanced approach comes Kore Pilates Studio, a bright, white-toned space with a distinctly funky energy. Its clientele includes people from many different nationalities, making it something of a Tower of Babel for the Pilates world. It is also the only studio on our list with more than one location: one at Libramiento José Manuel Zavala 83 and another at Calle de Jesús 27 in Centro.

Classes are structured for all levels, while the instructors are warm, attentive, and committed to every detail, creating an inviting environment where everyone feels welcome.

To make the experience even more playful, Kore frequently incorporates the jumpboard, where precision is everything. The jumps are not simply about cardio—they require control, strength, and rhythm, all working together in perfect balance.

Without a doubt, this was the studio where our girls had the most fun.

Last but certainly not least is Atané Pilates. In Otomí, “Atané” means “come to me,” a name intended to evoke abundance, stability, and peace for everyone who walks through the studio’s doors.

Created by Valeria, the founders’ vision is centered around highly personalized attention, with classes limited to no more than two people. This allows instructors to dedicate themselves fully to each client as they work on their reformer beds, taking advantage of the apparatus’s ability to combine body weight with the resistance provided by its various springs.

By playing with variations in each position and movement, attending a class at Atané becomes more than simply a workout—it becomes an experience centered around attentive care and steady progress toward the results you’re looking for.
