LOCAL SOUNDTRACK 02: APHRODITE'S SIN: The Rock & Groove of the Forbidden

By: Fernanda Morales

Here we are again, with a second post from Local Soundtrack, a space for all those artists from the local scene who bring life and fill the streets, terraces, theatres, restaurants and squares of our beautiful city with atmosphere.

Month after month we will talk about bands, soloists, duos, trios, all those who are part of the Soundtrack of San Miguel de Allende. On this occasion we will meet El Pecado de Afrodita, a band that sings about the “forbidden”, about the things that attract, but cannot be, and with their groove they manage to attract you.

This group has a long history of more than 12 years, since it was in 2010 when they managed to release their first album “Homónimo” and over time their music has evolved. At first everything was very rock, then their style became softer and today they have managed to find the essence of what they have always sought: a very natural rock and from the heart, with a good touch of funk, making a powerful fusion and characterized by their “rock & groove”.

Aphrodite's Sin is made up of Tonatiuh DomĂnguez, who is on drums. A person who really wants to do things, lets himself go and brings a touch of freshness to the band, apart from having very good resources and power on his instrument.

On bass is Daniel Aguascalientes, son of a member of the “Hermanos Aguascalientes”, an iconic group from San Miguel de Allende for years. Daniel is a very complete musician and always brings a lot of heart when it comes to playing and creating.

On guitar and vocals we have Pepe Telzagui, a soul that is always looking for resources, elements, experiences, sounds to find his own essence. When it comes to composing, he loves to write about the moments when he feels good and doesn't feel like worrying, just letting go.

What does The Sin of Aphrodite sound like?

If you listen to them it is a mix of progressive rock, Pepe Telzagui's guitar seems like a force of nature.

More than listening, you're going to connect. The band seeks to achieve a connection with the audience and for everyone to have a good time. There are moments when you'll be overcome with nostalgia; but then you'll stop to dance and rock out a little.

Aphrodite's Sin manages to create a positive, festive and at times deeper atmosphere.

Their first album was released in 2010, titled “Homónimo”, a work of rock, pop, Latin rhythms and a bit of blues. In 2016 they released “Sueños y libertad”, their most experimental album with more natural sounds.
In 2019 they made an album paying tribute to Mexican music entitled "RaĂces" with popular songs: rancheras and boleros covered in their rock & groove style.

The most recent release was in 2021, an EP called “De tu piel” with 5 tracks, 3 of them unreleased. They have also managed to be part of several compilation albums, 3 of them for Vive Latino.

Without a doubt, this is a group that makes people dance and sing at their gigs. They have performances in several bars in the city and to keep up to date with their dates, follow them on their social networks.

To end this second issue of Local Soundtrack we thank the members of Pecado de Afrodita for being part of this space and filling the streets of San Miguel de Allende with Groove. See you in the next edition.
