It was exactly fifteen years ago that the entrepreneur wanted to create a truly disruptive space whose main focus would revolve around the world of art and hospitality. A place that would showcase a spirit that the city didn't yet offer: bold and authentically contemporary, and that's how the venue opened its doors.
With international figures such as the iconic performance artist Astrid Hadad as well as Martha Stewart, the opening of the Hotel Matilda This would become the start of a silent revolution, scandalizing the most conservative figures in San Miguel at the time, who were shocked by the excess of marble and the irreverent artistic pieces. But their perspective would matter little compared to the success and fame that Matilda was about to achieve.
Later, the arrival of Bruce James, with his extensive hotel experience and artistic sensibility, solidified Matilda's position as one of the city's leading destinations for art and hospitality. It was all part of James's vision; he never hesitated to do whatever it took to create an edgy atmosphere without compromising the premium hospitality offered there.
Simultaneously, Moxi Matilda's restaurant came under the management of Enrique Olvera himself, transforming this great place into a must-visit international food destination with talented chefs parading through the kitchen of this temple of flavor.
Another concept that gained popularity was that of the “Supper Clubs” in which concepts that encompass the multisensory take Moxi's cuisine and turn it into a feast for the senses, as are its famous Erotic Dinners as well as its ceremonial Black Dinners.
It is worth mentioning that the spirit of Spook's beautiful mother, from whom the Hotel takes its name, guards the place in the form of a portrait by Diego Rivera, whose platinum hair and evanescent presence ensure that the hotel's purposeful and extravagant vibe will remain throughout time.
By 2026, it is expected that its silent Revolution will gain new momentum and that its drums will resound in time to celebrate such an important occasion with proposals that could only take place in this contemporary sanctuary.
