Stray dogs in Mexico
In Mexico there are more than 25 million stray dogs, millions! Although there is no official census on this situation, the number seems to not stop, which places us as the Latin American country with the most animals on the streets. Even though there are more and more organizations, shelters and groups that are dedicated to rescue and sterilization, it is very complicated to care for and follow up on all of them, especially because the vast majority live in rural communities and on the outskirts of large cities.
Guanajuato is a state where this situation is beginning to be addressed promptly by good-hearted people. San Miguel de Allende is no exception, and although there is a population of stray dogs within the city, it does not compare to that which exists in the surrounding communities.
Listening to their barking
That's why it was born Let us listen to the echo of his voice, a group that travels to communities and ranches to sterilize puppies and adult dogs, and to rescue, as far as possible, those in poor condition or in need of urgent medical attention. For Jessica and her team, rescuing animals is a life mission that is rewarded with the love and affection that these defenseless beings return in gratitude.
Fortunately, there is more and more culture and awareness about the importance of giving these stray animals a home where they can be safe and healthy, and above all with lots of love and the attention they need. And, although not all of us can adopt, we can help with bags of food, blankets, towels, hygiene and cleaning products and much more that shelters like Let us listen to the echo of his voice.
A few days ago we went to visit the shelter and Jessica herself told us in her own voice what they do and how you can help them to the best of your ability. It's time to make a difference! You can do it. Watch the video below.
