STEPHYLOREN SOUNDTRACK 28

This time, we speak again with Stephyloren, a Colombian singer-songwriter who chose San Miguel as her home and from there, radiates her music across various venues in Mexico. Her story is a reminder of the power of intuition and courage.

"Before my solo project, I only sang and played maracas in a band. But the pandemic brought a dream that changed everything.", shares Stephyloren with a thoughtful look. "One day I dreamed I was 87 years old, looking in the mirror and asking myself, 'Why haven't you ever tried?'".

That revelation was the catalyst. From then on, Stephyloren picked up a guitar, learned from YouTube tutorials, and began writing and sharing her music without looking back. San Miguel de Allende, with its vibrant cultural diversity and receptive audience, became the cradle of her dreams, fueling her inspiration and connecting her with talented peers.

Since starting her solo project in 2020, Stephyloren's style has evolved, influenced by the places she's visited and the people she's met. "At first, my music was very ballad-like, with melancholic tones," explains. "But playing live and traveling around the country, I fell in love with folk. Now, the DNA of my project is a blend of folk and pop, and I'm influenced by soul and funk. I believe in not putting labels on things, just letting them be and flowing."

If you want to immerse yourself in her musical universe, Stephyloren recommends starting with "Unforgettable Concert", a song that has opened many doors for him.

Currently, Stephyloren is experiencing a crucial stage in her career: she is part of the Society of Authors and Composers of Mexico (SACM)Every year, more than 8,000 applicants submit their songs, but only 70 artists are selected for the next generation's workshop. Stephyloren was fortunate enough to be chosen for the ninth generation.

"The level of my classmates is impressive; I have to confess that it's quite intimidating because of their quality. The teachers have enriched me, and I'm filled with inspiration. For a moment, I feel very understood; I've found a tribe where I can vent." she recounts excitedly. A space where she has learned to find inspiration even in the most mundane things, like dust seen through a camera lens, proving that anything that conveys a feeling can be a song.

Stephyloren's journey has not been without challenges, but she has transformed them into opportunities for growth. She recalls a festival in Hermosillo, Sonora, one of the most important events of her career, where her loop pedal failed in the middle of a concert. "Despite all the stress, I took a deep breath, filled myself with the audience's energy, and managed to pull off the performance with just my guitar.", he says, making clear his professionalism and passion.

Attending a Stephyloren concert is a true delight. Accompanied by her guitar and loop pedal, which amplifies her spirit as she plays and sings, she mesmerizes the audience. It's impossible not to watch her as she moves, strumming the strings with all her passion, creating an atmosphere that captivates you.

Stephyloren has upcoming shows scheduled in several states across the country, and the good news is that she's already preparing a special presentation for the San Miguel audience. So don't miss the date! Follow her on all her social media channels to stay up-to-date.
