The beginning of each year marks the arrival of a series of awards of all kinds, from film to music, a season of red carpets and celebrities that keeps us entertained and gives us something to talk about during the first months of the year. This weekend is the time for the biggest night for music: the Grammy® Awards.
Although they are usually held in January, for obvious reasons this year they decided to move them around a bit, to confirm the order and safety of the attendees and the artists who will perform. Among the nominees, which were announced in November, we find Beyoncé as the leader with more nominations on the list, followed by more like Dua Lipa, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga and pretty much every big name on the streaming charts.
LATINOS AND KOREANS REPRESENTING
What is striking is that Latin artists are making the leap and are being considered in this award and not only in the Latin Grammys®, where they were limited. This is thanks to the undeniable influence of reggaeton and urban rhythms in global music, leading to collaborations and remixes between Anglo-Saxon and Latin artists. Also noteworthy is the first nomination for BTS, the Korean mega group that has literally conquered the world, with millions and millions of followers who take advantage of every opportunity to give them exposure.
WHO DO WE WANT TO SEE?
It will be an interesting night considering the context of the pandemic, with new protocols for this type of mass events, where they will surely rely heavily on virtual platforms to broadcast some of the performances. What excites us most is seeing the artists who made noise throughout 2020, since we know the level of production that the Grammys® usually have.
Just a couple of days ago they announced the artists who will be performing, and given the level of each one, we can foresee that it will be a great show. Among those who head the line-up are Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, Black Pumas, Dua Lipa, Doja Cat and Harry Styles, the cream of the crop of pop right now. We are particularly looking forward to Bad Bunny, who has not stopped releasing singles and collaborations, and Dua Lipa, who gave us one of the best pop albums of 2020.
SMA PLACES THAT WILL TRANSMIT THEM
If you want to get away from home and see them somewhere with some drinks and snacks, we recommend these spots in San Miguel that will broadcast the gala live this Sunday, March 14th starting at 6 PM. Don't forget to write to them directly for reservations.
