Morning Rituals at Panio

We have a lot to appreciate every day about our beautiful Saint Michael And one of the things we are most grateful for is the rich baking art that Panio satisfies our appetite.

Coming from the European rigor and the tradition of Franco-Italian bakery, Panio has been showing us its skill and love for the world of baking for decades. Since its founder, the great Alberto Laposse, arrived in Mexico with this knowledge considered scientific, the smiles of the people of San Miguel do not stop appearing on their faces.

PANIO SAN MIGUEL MORNING RITUALS

To continue celebrating the success of this beloved site, Panio decided to get all fancy with his beloved customers while encouraging a new magical ritual, a morning one.

The ritual will consist of being guided by the aroma of their artisanal coffee and getting up early with the crowing of the roosters and going first to any of the bakeries in Panio and Hortus to get a complimentary coffee.

Only the first to arrive will be part of these #MorningRituals!

Once you have obtained the coveted coffee, we recommend accompanying it with something that makes the hearts of all Mexicans die of joy: Their bread of the dead.

Prepared with sourdough, the most traditional bread of our culture will delight anyone who tries it. In addition to decorating traditional Mexican altars of the dead, each of its parts represents a story.

The anatomy of the bread of the dead is worthy of study. The level of symbolism that this sweet edible professes, speaks to us of something as profound as life and death itself represented by its cyclical circular shape.

The little bones that decorate the structure are there to represent the dead, as well as the four cardinal points of the Aztec calendar, and the little ball is the heart of the deceased. It is said that the breads came about when the Spanish wanted to replace some of the sacrifices that were once made, and boy did they choose a sweet option!

This nostalgia with a taste of candied orange and citron can be purchased right now at any of their bakeries and if you are one of those adventurous people who want to make the bread of the dead themselves, there is also another possibility…

On October 4th and 18th, a Panio Lab will be offered where those who are curious can take a workshop to make bread of the dead and either eat it themselves or place it on their altars. We know it will be delicious! To attend, reserve your place through the mail or 415 101 3003.
