A FRIEND for life

By Pamela Fink

Now that it is becoming increasingly normal to stop acquiring purebred dogs given the cruelty with which breeders tend to operate and the genetic problems that many pedigree dogs have (such as pugs that cannot breathe properly due to the flat shape of their face), canine adoption is booming but there is still a problem that continues to be invisible.

Adopters seem to have a clear preference for small dogs as well as “cute” puppies, leaving aside and abandoning those dogs that do not meet those ridiculous standards of beauty or that do not fall within the age range category.

Un AMIGO para toda la vida

Many people fear that when they adopt an adult or senior dog, it will have serious health problems or will not know how to socialize very well with children or other dogs, leaving them in a perpetual wait for a loving home that simply will not arrive.

This is because there is not much education on the subject and many do not have the information about how easy it is to have an adult dog compared to a puppy according to Marissa Peña of Lucky Dogs.

Having a puppy means educating it, vaccinating it, sterilizing it and socializing it, as well as training it to overcome separation anxiety with its human friend. Whereas adopting an adult dog means that they are already well-behaved, can handle separation well and show an immense degree of gratitude and loyalty.

This is how the foundation Lucky Dogs Club House Upon noticing this problem with the stray dogs that she kindly welcomes into her shelter, she decided to call for action and raise awareness among adopters to offer a home full of love and responsibility for our elderly furry friends.

The appointment will be on February 4th And at Local Guide we couldn't be more proud to offer our solidarity by spreading the word about this event in Distrito Soma from 12 pm to 4 pm where the cutest dogs will be parading in anticipation of a chance to become your family's new best friend.

Additionally, by adopting and proving that it is a responsible home, they will receive a free Petco City Market membership, which will offer them great discounts and benefits on canine products.

We want to share with you from the bottom of our hearts that nothing compares to the loyalty that an elderly dog can offer to a family when he finally gets the long-awaited love and sense of belonging that he has been denied all his life.

As an example, one of the many stories they have is that of Elvis who on the day of his rescue had extreme bite marks that left him with serious wounds on his face, neck and legs, not to mention his state of dehydration. However, thanks to the care of the foundation and Dr. Brandon, he managed to recover and is ready to become the best friend that every man, woman and child in every home could wish for.

Check the catalog to choose the partner with whom you will share the rest of your life.

*Adult and senior dogs for adoption are delivered vaccinated, dewormed and sterilized, ready for serious adopters who have the conditions for the canine to have a full life.
