So It Seems To Me To Be As I Now See The Things I Think I See
noviembre 21 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm CST
San Miguel’s getting artsy and we’re part of it! A chance to join the fun together with us:
Our Nuweland Gallery opening with amazing art by Dale Lawrence at Ancha de San Antonio 20, Instituto Allende/YAM Gallery.
Dale Lawrence is a Cape Town-based artist whose practice defies traditional artistic boundaries, exploring the intersections of language, materiality, and gesture. By disrupting repetitive processes and challenging conceptual art conventions, Lawrence creates works that blur media boundaries—incorporating text, sculpture, print, performance, and installation.
His approach is deeply experimental, often involving unconventional transformations: sawing chair legs, recreating art historical works using mundane materials like chip packets, or extracting linguistic fragments from ephemeral sources like clickbait and social media. Lawrence is particularly interested in process over completion, viewing art as a space of possibility and negotiation rather than fixed meaning.
Influenced by Arte Povera artists like Jannis Kounellis, Lawrence’s work reveals a sincere commitment to exploring human potential through artistic gesture. His pieces frequently challenge established artistic dogmas, valuing craft, adaptability, and the poetic potential of seemingly ordinary materials and moments.
This night promises great art, drinks and interesting people! It’s totally free and casual – just bring your curiosity and friends.
Can’t wait to see you!
Cheers,
Anke & Wiebren
