With purple silhouettes that resembled shadows of girls with fists in the shape of flames representing the flame of the fighting spirit for women's rights, the March 8th march began in Benito Ju\u00e1rez Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The march, which grows year after year, was organized by \u201cSororas y Rebeldes SMA\u201d who once again took charge of the logistics as well as the safety of all the sisters who marched through the most important streets of the city such as Insurgentes, Canal and Zacateros until ending in front of La Parroquia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is worth mentioning that this year the turnout increased compared to the previous year, and that the streets were awash in purple and green. There has also been a radical increase in the number of girls and boys who, from an early age, are being made aware of the struggles for a future where women's rights are protected. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another memorable and celebratory aspect is when the tourist mask and picture-perfect image of San Miguel is removed to show the authenticity of the town, and that is how the slogan of a march full of sisterhood but also of pain in the steps and in the looks of all the women who suffer some type of abuse and harassment was achieved. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Slogans such as "The women of Guanajuato will not back down" and "Conscious woman joins the contingent" did not fall on deaf ears, as today the Congress will join at 11 am in the Garden to demand the decriminalization of abortion as well as comprehensive sex education. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, powerful images were captured by the \u201cHealing Word Project<\/a>\u201d" of Kate Van Doren<\/a> where personal words and mantras show the path to healing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
