A story that makes locals' hair stand on end and challenges the brave and unwary to replicate it is that of the Huerta Tunnel, in which they say the portal to hell itself appears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They used to tell how three peasant friends had to cross the tunnel daily to sell their seeds, and it always caused them great fear and displeasure to go through that place because it was permeated with the smell of sulfur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One day, one of the friends lagged behind in the middle of the tunnel and that's when he saw a red light on the rocks. With true Mexican curiosity, the emboldened man decided to explore, and his surprise grew when he heard a horse whinny in the distance and discovered the silhouette of a black steed peering out from a huge doorway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The kind man, concerned for the animal, wanted to help it get out of there, but when he approached to pet the stallion, he realized that only the head was sticking out of the reins and that there was no body to accompany the floating head. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Terrified, he tried to run, but the horse trotted towards him with the sound of its invisible hooves and it is said that it managed to drag him all the way to hell.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the days passed, his two friends went to look for him but they never found anything else of his except the hat that he used to wear all the time and that he never took off for anything. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it is now that this story has been passed down from generation to generation that the most fearful venture into the middle of the tunnel, which is approximately one kilometer long, and when they get there they turn off their lights at midnight, and it is then that they can glimpse the silhouette of the horse and the devil and a mysterious semi-human figure. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We appreciate the narrative of Brenda Araiza<\/a> who lends voice and life to the narrator of the history<\/a> to the \u201cMischievous Little Devil\u201d as well as to the 3 peasants who were victims of these supernatural events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
