This week everyone is waving their rainbow flag and the next they will return to their \u201cnormality\u201d as if human identity or preferences were just a passing fad. But that is not our intention at Local Guide, but rather to create a truly inclusive community available 365 days a year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

If it is true that progress has been made on these issues in San Miguel<\/a>, there is still much to be done to continue making progress in this regard, starting by really not making any difference in terms of identity for purposes such as job selection or the treatment given to any person in any type of establishment. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here we would like to suggest some activities that could create a safe environment for community members and we hope that these suggestions can one day disappear and that all sites and spaces will be pleasant for all types of people in the future. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We start with the ceramics classes of Lorenzo Lugo <\/a>Mckelvain, who teaches them at both beginner and advanced levels in her studio called \u201cWe Baroque\u201d where she will guide you in this beautiful art in which you can create your own memento of your visit to San Miguel and where they even offer artistic residencies for those who are not local and want to obtain a whole week of pure knowledge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another suggestion is the obligatory visit to the typical bar of \u201cThe Cockroach<\/a>\u201d founded in 1947 and which continues to fulfill all kinds of plans thanks to its great atmosphere that has endured over time having seen great celebrities of international cinema pass through and which with its jukebox music continues to provide the great atmosphere pertinent to Pride Week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This and every Tuesday the best plan to see the art of the Drag Queen happens in Tuesgays<\/a> where week after week a dream team of performance artists parade on a fashion catwalk so that one by one they do their lip sync act in which they usually imitate one of the great divas of song at Soltribe Cuisine in Ancha de San Antonio #123. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, every certain season, there is a wonderful cultural and inclusive market called The Pilgrimage<\/a> where great independent artists and people from the community offer their products and talent from different regions so that all of San Miguel can enjoy its relaxed atmosphere where people from all walks of life can come and enjoy themselves in communion.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are many plans for this Pride week, but it is also an invitation to reflect on how to continue growing in our diversity and the way we make people similar and different to us feel welcome.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
