The time has come to leave differences behind and unite as sororal sisters on this day so significant for all of us who identify as women, the 8M march in honor of International Women's Day<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

March 8th commemorates the enormous tragedy of 1857 when women working in the textile industry were violently silenced by the police after protesting, thus losing 120 sisters. Given this enormous tragedy, the first women's union in history was founded, which was followed by a tsunami of protests demanding fundamental rights such as good working conditions, thus marking the historic date on which year after year we take to the streets and go out to march.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Mexico, year after year, city after city holds marches and commemorative events where, instead of dyeing the streets red for our horrific femicides, the purple of the jacarandas descends on the streets and shelters with its friendly shadows the companions who decide to go out to show our enormous power, and San Miguel could not be the exception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many contingents will take over the streets and among them the one that stands out is: \u201cSisters and Rebels\u201d<\/a> who will peacefully seek to make a song and a call to action to demand justice and make invisible our missing sisters whom, although we no longer see them, we still feel beating in our chests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To join this contingent you must be there this Wednesday March 8th<\/a> at 5pm in Benito Juarez Park wearing purple, black and white clothes. It is recommended to carry a sign with a phrase from the movement that inspires you. Everyone will take care of each other and girls are also welcome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At LocalGuide we recommend not forgetting to bring water to stay hydrated as well as a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun. Prior to the march, there will be workshops and activities where women who want to can also attend to make their own personalized sign or scarf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The route of the march is set to leave Juarez Park, passing through the streets of Nemesio Diez, Zacateros, Insurgente and San Francisco, ending at Portal Allende in front of the Parish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We make a strong call for assistance in this great cause where minute by minute we continue to progress for our rights and equality, as well as an act of heroic symbolism in which we demonstrate that there are too many of us for our voice, the voice of our sisters, to ever be silenced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
