Music is one of the main drivers of feelings and reactions. Any activity with music becomes much more bearable, as it provides a reduction in stress and a feeling of tranquility that allows us to acquire the comfort and convenience necessary to carry out our daily lives.
There are as many types of music as there are tastes in the world and San Miguel de Allende has a wide local scene of musicians that bring life to the friendliest city in the world.
The warm streets welcome many nationalities and great personalities. You can find everything from young artists starting their musical careers to great national and international musicians with extensive careers who have found a home to inspire them in the World Heritage City.

For this edition of Local Soundtrack We have the iconic Laureano Brizuela, better known as the Angel of Rock, an Argentine singer-songwriter who has chosen San Miguel de Allende to live and create.
Talking about Laureano Brizuela is remembering a wonderful era of rock in Latin America
He began his professional career in 1972 with the CBS Argentina record label. His biggest hit was “Porque te quiero tanto” by the Spanish singer-songwriter Juan Pardo. In the first four years of his career, he sold more than 2 million copies.
Brizuela received an award as an “international artist” at the Mar del Plata International Record Festival (Argentina). Years later, he stopped recording to become a producer for other singers. He produced 15 albums, earning gold and platinum records for his successful sales.

During the 80s she arrived in Mexico, where she resumed her career as a singer, becoming an exponent of rock in Spanish, as well as a great style that many men imitated.
Today, she says that living in San Miguel de Allende is a dream come true and she enjoys the social life that the city offers, as it is easy to get around and have different plans throughout the day.
In a world dominated by social media, Laureano has taken advantage of technological resources to reach out to his fans and new generations through weekly live broadcasts where he invites people to reflect and shares his best music videos.
“Today’s generations are distracted and now listen to 80s music as a trend, which is fine, it’s good that they listen to it. The 80s were a peak of creativity, but unfortunately in the 90s came the digitalization of everything, including the creation of music. That robotized music.”

Faced with this scenario, Laureano rebelliously stopped creating music for several years, but during 2023 he continues working on a new studio album.
“I’m not interested in new trends. I plan to create something with a bit of Colombian vallenato, Jamaican reggae and some Puerto Rican plena rhythms.”
Brizuela acknowledges that San Miguel is a place of inspiration for artists of all kinds, but believes that inspiration comes from what you achieve internally.
“I speak of inner peace. Living in the provinces has given me a point of analysis that I didn’t have when I lived in the big city. The big city doesn’t let you think. You have to prefer the meditative act over things so that when you sit down to write it is coherent and has a lot to do with who you are.”

To close the interview, Laureano shared some advice for all artists who are starting out in the world of music.
“The first thing you have to do is listen to the history of music. Don’t just look at what’s playing to see if you can sing something similar. You’re not creating anything new, you’re the result of a history of musical evolution. And another important thing! Write songs! Test yourselves!”
We thank Laureano Brizuela for this wonderful interview and you for reading us. We will be sharing with you about the new plans or shows that this great artist has soon in San Miguel. See you in the next edition!
