On Saint Michael We are very rich in traditions and legends that, although not well-known, abound in our local mythology, although they differ from family to family in the way they are told, since each one adds a touch of their own narrative style.
Now we will learn the legend of the Cave of the Hill of the Three Crosses, also known as the Devil's Cave.

Well, it turns out that there was a rumor that Moctezuma's immeasurable treasure was hidden there and that although many had tried to recover it, they had never found it.
Such a legend reached the ears of some friends who were going through economic difficulties to support their families, so on a night of drinks one of them proposed to go for the treasure taking advantage of the holiday of the Santa Cruz It would be early and the people would be distracted.
His other, more fearful friend did not want to go because he knew the cave was cursed, but to encourage him, the one with the idea invited his brother and brother-in-law to this brave adventure.
As day arrived, the men equipped themselves with tools and ropes to descend the cave, and once at the entrance, the fearful man decided to stay at the entrance to alert the town in case something happened.
The others hurriedly entered the cave, which was L-shaped and about 6 meters deep, where they found a lagoon of crystal-clear waters as well as a portal to another space.
At the entrance was a Virgin of Guadalupe carved in gold as well as the image of a snake carved in the same precious material and what would be their surprise when they saw that the snake transformed into a beautiful woman.
The beautiful lady asked them why they were there and they told her that they wanted the treasure, so the girl told them it could be theirs if they passed a test.

The test consisted of one of them carrying the Virgin to the parish church, while the other carried her to the same destination, with the only condition being that they not turn back. The men agreed, thinking it would be a simple task.
The first one carried the Virgin of Gold, but after several kilometers, the weight became more and more unbearable until he threw the statue down, unable to carry it any longer, and when it broke, it transformed into hundreds of vipers.
The second one charged at the girl he was trying to talk to, but she didn't respond a single word, and when he was near La Parroquia on Recreo Street, he heard a thunderous sound behind him, so he turned around.
This action would be his end as the girl transformed back into a huge snake and wrapped her body around him to take him back to the cave.
The friend who stayed at the entrance never saw them again, just as they could never be found again…
It is said that at the Holy Cross you can hear their cries of suffering from the depths of the Devil's Cave.
