Festival of the Living and the Dead in San Miguel

The iconic festival, which puts so much effort into honoring the traditions of the dead in our beloved Mexico, is celebrating its third edition, so they decided to honor this great event with a new concept: "Semillas de Vida."

By this phrase they mean: The dead are not buried, they are sown! They give life!

Festival de Vivos y Muertos san miguel

Making clear reference to the cyclical nature of life and that without our ancestors it would be impossible for us to be here today, breathing and honoring them for their enormous gift.

Based on this premise, it is that Hacienda el Santuario Boutique Hotel This cultural proposal is carried out by designing each of its activities as a tribute to seeds and how their germination made the engine of life possible.

Just as in nature, seeds are reborn in plants to continue the cycle, this same thing is replicated in human beings with this drive for expansion, celebration, and kindness that so characterizes Mexicans.

Ancestral seeds such as corn and cacao will take center stage at the festival, used not only as food but as divine and fundamental elements laden with ritual, spiritual, and historical symbolism, as our ancestors have used them since pre-Hispanic times.

Thus, some of the festival's activities will include Teo Cacao & Panio, where you can taste exquisite chocolate and bread with a pairing, elotadas de vida (a night where corn will take center stage), and a spectacular menu.

This menu will be under the watchful eye of Chef Jose Antonio and his powerful team, who will reinterpret special dishes and concoctions based on traditional corn recipes.

Likewise, to adorn the sacred offering, beautiful floral carpets will be made. Their creation requires time, balance, and effort from those who put all their effort into ensuring it looks as good as possible, with results that would make our deceased want to return from heaven for a few moments to contemplate such works of art in their honor.

As the highlight of the event, the blessing of the Offering will take place on the evening of October 31st, led by the cook from Comonfort, Guanajuato, Consuelo Benancio.

For more information, we strongly suggest consulting the hotel's special calendar, as night after night we'll be led on a journey through the depths of Mictlán that you won't want to miss.
